In 1992 members of the First United Methodist Church in Anniston, Alabama began working with an after-school tutoring program in a local housing project. When the Stewart family became involved with the tutoring program and witnessed its positive impact, they founded The Susanna Wesley Foundation.

Grace and Gravy is a bible study and meal program sponsored by The Susanna Wesley Foundation.

Also ran by the Susanna Wesley Foundation is Groceries with Grace. Groceries with Grace is a food distribution service that provides nutrition to those in need.
