Anniston Fiber Optics, Inc., a program sponsored by The Stewart Family Foundation, has matched the city of Anniston’s $125,000 donation to the Public Education Foundation of Anniston (PEFA). The total sum of $250,000 will be used to enhance classroom technology.
“This donation will allow every classroom to have access to tablets, iClickers, and other tools that will help students learn necessary skills in computer technology,” says Donald W. Stewart, local lawyer and founder of the Stewart Family Foundation.
PEFA’s mission is to support the educational process with time and resources in order to strengthen the local educational system. PEFA’s Jazz It Up for Education fundraiser was hosted in downtown Anniston in November 2013. Anniston Fiber Optics sponsored the fundraiser that raised approximately $22,000 for the benefit of PEFA. In July 2013, Anniston Fiber Optics donated $100,000 to aid the career technology program for Anniston High School.
